Bishop Gibert Earl Patterson Bio

Gilbert Earl Patterson (best known as G.E. Patterson) was born in Humboldt, Tennessee on September 22, 1939. He spent much of his childhood in Detroit, Michigan before returning to Memphis in 1962 where he attended LeMoyne-Owen College. At the age of 23, Patterson became the co-pastor at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ and in 1968, he was married to his wife, Louise.
It was in 1975 that G.E. Patterson founded the Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ which was also home to his Bountiful Blessings Ministries. Under the pastoral direction of Patterson, the Temple of Deliverance went on to become one of the largest churches within the Church of God in Christ denomination, boasting approximately 18,000 members. After being elected to serve as the Bishop of COGIC, G.E. Patterson helped to further the growth of the denomination. He served as bishop until his death on March 20, 2007.
